Why FriendlyTech?

Technology is all around us these days, and it can be really useful - but sometimes, it can seem baffling… and often, traditional retailers and repairers don't have the time to help people to use it.  I offer to visit you in your home, at your place of work... or even over a coffee, for portable devices! - to provide friendly advice and/or training on setting up and using lots of different types of tech equipment.  Alternatively, you can pass on the hassle and leave everything to me! – for things like swapping your mobile phone handset, setting up a new computer for your needs, or programming a smart device.

What I do:

I can help out with setting up and using a wide range of technology:

  • iPads / iPhones - setting up / swapping / tuition
  • Internet safety - filtering systems / Family Sharing etc
  • Computers / internet / peripherals such as printers or scanners
  • TV / video / satellite / smart speakers / hi-fi
  • PA systems and DMX lighting
  • Central heating programming
  • Online banking systems
  • School portals / payment systems
  • Multi-factor authentication systems…

and much more... so if your problem isn’t listed here, please feel free to contact me anyway. If I can’t help you, it will cost you nothing!

What I charge:

I charge £40 per hour with a minimum charge of one hour, and many issues can be sorted out within this timeframe. If further time will be needed to achieve your goals, I will offer you an estimate based on the time likely to be taken and ask for your approval before continuing. No charge is made for travelling time within the Greater Manchester and Cheshire areas of the UK, and appointments are normally available six days per week.

About me:

I’m based in south Manchester with my family.  Until recently, for 13 years, I was an IT support technician at a local independent school, during which time they became an Apple Distinguished School and an Apple Regional Training Centre.  Before that, I worked for 10 years at the UK’s biggest and busiest hi-fi, TV and home cinema retailer.  I’ve also been a professional mobile DJ for the last 15 years!  So I’ve a huge amount of experience with lots of different technology.
